This year Cantamos will be focusing our efforts toward several major concerts. These concerts will occur both in the fall/winter and spring seasons. With new content and format we will be combining our talents with other vocalists and instrumentalists to create a live celebration of the season. The first will occur in late November 2018 and will be entitled..."An original Christmas with Cantamos". You will not want to miss this new approach toward the telling of the beloved Christmas story. Check our website often for the dates and locations!
Carolyn Sosebee has been our accompanist for seventeen years! Last night was her final performance with Cantamos and she will indeed be sorely missed. A fine organist and pianist, she has given of herself to hundreds of Cantamos performances....and dedicated herself to Cantamos, with style and grace. As part of our Cantamos famly, she will be always remain special in our hearts. Enjoy retirement, Carolyn...you deserve the best!
It is hard to believe that this year we are celebrating our 20th Anniversary! It seems as though it was not long ago when a dozen VDC members met at St. Stephens Lutheran Church, Hickory to begin this journey of spreading God's Word through sacred choral singing. What a blessing it has been for each member as they dedicate their skills and time to the numerous rehearsals and performances! Today we number approximately forty singers and travel to various churches, retirement centers, conventions and special events throughout North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.
This year is especially meaningful as we conduct our regular performances, along with hosting worship at the 2017 Via de Cristo Convention to be held at Wake Forest University, Winston Salem, North Carolina in July. Additionally we will be releasing an Anniversary CD featuring our greatest concert moments.
We invite you to follow us as we extend our reach into the many congregations, while continuing to express the love of God and the communion of Christians throughout the world!
Once again Cantamos was blessed with a packed house at Grace Chapel on the campus of Lenoir-Rhyne University, Hickory NC. This year's theme was..."We Live by Faith" and featured organ, piano, oboe, violins and trumpets accompanying the chorus. Grace Chapel is an acoustically phenomenal venue and we love performing there! As always we were humbled by the response from our supporters to the blend of our narration, instrumental music and singing. Thanks again to our patrons and we look forward to next year's concert at Lenoir-Rhyne University.
What a joy it was to worship with the great folks at Point of Grace in Cornelius NC on Sunday, May 1, 2016. Pastor Hoffman and his congregation were gracious hosts as we presented our concert entitled..."My Heart, God's Home. Many thanks to each of them for a great time and we will continue to pray for their ministry in the Cornelius area.
Since early January Cantamos has been on the road performing at various retirements centers throughout the region. We have done this for years but for some reason this year is somewhat different. We are blessed by smiling faces, enthusiastic listeners and grateful hearts. Our efforts are always gladly received with love which encourages us to greater heights. For these wonderful souls who are away from the mainstream of life....we are truly grateful!
Our annual Cantamos Retreat is a source of learning new music, while spending casual and fun time with our friends! This year's retreat will be held in Columbia, SC. And we will cap-off the weekend by performing at a large Presbyterian church on Sunday afternoon. Our accompanist, Carolyn Sosebee will be joined by her twin sister to deliver some incredible Four-in-Hand piano accompaniments. We are looking forward to this special concert! Meanwhile, check back for the date and time that this event will occur. And thank you for following our blog!
